Inkido guest appearance at Scrap Around the World.

The DT of Inkido was graciously invited to interpret the recent mood board at
This is my interpretation of this fun challenge:

And here is a picture of the mood board
Isn't it just gorgeous?!!

Here are a few close ups of my page. I started out taking inspiration from the stripes (background sheet), the words 'flying' out from the head (my butterflies), the large title (also a quote) and the black and white photo of a person.
I also did a loose interpretation of the available sketch, picking just a few  of the elements.

I fussy cut a lot of tiny flowers from one of the sheets in the 'Beautiful Memories' collection.
I believe they are poppies.

I picked Inkido's  small butterfly stamp  and combined with some other butterflies that I cut out. They were all embellished with some bling and pearl stones. Inkido do these in several colours and they are so great to add to all kinds of projects.

I find the internet is such a great source when you are searching for various inspiration, and for this challenge I decided I needed a good quote. This was just one of several quotes that I found.

After cutting out the words with my Silhouette Cameo I backed them with pink paper, except for the words black and white that I wanted to stand out against the background.
As you can see from this close up I also added some freestyle sewing with my machine. I find it adds a lot of interest without being intrusive or  taking anything away from the design.

Thanks for checking out my page today. :-)
There is still a lot of time to take part in the challenge at SATW, or why not Sabrinas September challenge here at Inkido to use layers and borders?

Special Guest Designer - Helen Tilbury - 'Memories Together' {Mixed Media Layout}

Hello there everyone!  Surprise!!  I am so happy to announce that I will be having fun here with you & all these lovely Inkido products as "Special Guest Designer" for the next 5 months - until the end of 2013. Thank you so much to Papercrafts Scandinavia for extending this wonderful invitation to me & sending me a whole heap of gorgeousness to enjoy!  Woop Woop!!

Hello :)  My name is Helen Tilbury & I live in Durban, South Africa, together with my hubs, 4 kids & 3 furry kitties.  I've been scrapbooking for the last 10 years & it's saved me a lot of money on therapy!  Okay so it's not the cheapest hobby but I do love it & believe that the dozens of albums I have filled will be treasured for many years to come.  I have a day job so all my creating & design team duties are done in the evenings & over the weekends - fortunately I have a hubby that loves to cook & is very supportive of my artistic lifestyle!

Currently I am also designing for Scrap 365 Magazine in the UK, My Creative Scrapbook - the most awesome kit club in the USA!  Scrapmatts Chipboard & Flourish with a Bling {both Australian companies} I also recently started my own challenge blog, which I administrate & design for - Scrap Around The World.  Yup - all that does keep me rather busy!!  But I love the challenge & the online community - it is amazingly supportive & I have formed some fantastic friendships since I started my blog & got involved online 4 years ago.

My style is shabby grunge with lots of mixed media thrown in!  I hope you enjoy my projects & posts & I would love it if you would visit my blog too - Scrap Addict - where I share loads of tips & tricks, tutorials & details of my work process.  I have a You Tube channel too & have just got into technique videos so please subscribe if you are interested in learning some mixed media techniques - you can find that HERE. You can also keep up with me on my Facebook page HERE .  Thank you so much for having me ♥

I created this layout with the glorious new collection - Beautiful Memories - using the Blue Labels B side for my base (with the start) & the floral paper Blue Memories - Sage Blossom.

I used the lovely Butterfly 'Swallowtail' Nature stamp & embellished with some beautiful Inkido flowers from the Harmony Olive set  as well as the Tiffany Jewels in Blue.

I used a couple different varieties of white lace which I recoloured with gelatos
- you can find the lace HERE and HERE.

I had a fantastic time working with the Inkido products!  Can you tell?!?
The beautifully shabby papers with their pale tones work perfectly
with the mediums which only serve to enhance their beauy.

I had a lot of fun layering up many textural elements together with the soft Inkido designs.
I used Ulrika's lovely sketch as a starting point for my design.
{which is also our August challenge}.

August Challenge

Romantisk Kort/Romantic Card

Hei alle sammen! Yasmin her på bloggen i dag og  har jeg et romantisk kort jeg gjerne vil vise frem! :)

Hello Everyone! It's Yasmin here on the blog today and  I have a romantic card to share with you.

Jeg har ikke bare brukt ett inkido stempel for å lage kortet mitt, men 6 forskjellige stempler satt sammen til ett trykk! Motivet er farget med distress inks.

I haven't used only one inkido stamp to make my card, but 6 diffrent ones all put together as one motiv! I colored it with different distress inks.

I have enjoyed playing with the newest papers in the "Beautiful Memories 2" Collection. They are utterly beautiful and I must add that I'm very happy with the way this card turned out. :) I felt a bit guilty for curling up the papers to add a bit of texture and dimention. They are so beautiful!

Håper kortet mitt inspirerer og kanskje en dag så lager jeg en tutorial på hvordan du kan lage din egen stempel kollage med Inkido's herlige stempler. :)

I hope my card inspires and someday I maybe do a tutorial on how to make your own stamp collage with Inkido's awesome stamps. :)

The Martin Birdhouse

Hello - Happy Monday Inkido style.  Jennifer Snyder here to share some Inkido artwork, a cool photo I took and the gorgeous NEW collection by Inkido.
The florals and images on this patterned paper are crazy gorgeous.  I almost hate to cut up....so instead I ripped it.  hahahaa - now I need more.

This is a photo I took of a Martin birdhouse in North Carolina.  We almost caused a car accident when we saw this magnificent human sized birdhouse in someone's backyard.  Martins are known as mosquito eaters.  Must be this homeowner has a giant pesty insect problem based on the size of this birdhouse.  And, yes, that is a door for a human to walk through.

My inspiration for this page is that birdhouse.   I wanted to get the look and feel of the old peeling paint on the birdhouse structure.  I used a piece of 12x12 cardboard that I cut from an old box.  If you way an easy way to peel paper off cardboard, just get it wet and let the water soak in a little.  The paper separates easily.  I opted to leave some of the paper on for texture.  (The actual photo is posted below.)

Here are some of the divine Inkido products I used to crate this page.  I also used Beautiful Memories - Blue Flowers paper SDM12471 as well, not shown below.

Inkido has these really cool Star pins shown below.  They worked really well for sticking into my thick cardboard.  I bent them a little too after sticking them in the cluster. I gave them more "lift" by bending them.

Here is a great shot  of the Inkido lace trim that I selected.  I stained it with brown stain and then coated it with glossy crackle paint.  It makes the ink colors very rich.  I also did that with the edges of my cardboard and the Inkido Bling orange crystal gems.  Everything got slathered in glossy crackle paint.

Thanks for looking here.

Just a reminder that Inkido has it's monthly challenge that can be found here!
